The Waipukurau Dramatic Society Inc was incorporated on 21st of April 1953, but more recently we have been known as Waipukurau Little Theatre. This year as we update our constitution to bring it in line with the latest regulations we are now formally known as "Waipukurau Little Theatre Inc." The earliest reference we can find to theatre activity in Waipukurau is in 1925 with The Waipukurau Operatic and Dramatic Society's production of The Pirates of Penzance. So maybe our history is longer than this.
Waipukurau Little Theatre is a not for profit organisation that have over the years produced two, three or more shows a year to reach a total in excess of 200 shows, often to sell out audiences. We have been lucky to have many talented directors, actors, backstage crew and supporters that are keen to be involved. More importantly we have been well supported by the Central Hawke's Bay community who have attended our shows and enabled us to continue with our productions. For this we thank you.
The goal of the Society is to foster the dramatic arts in Central Hawke's Bay and the fact that we have continued to do so for 65 years is a mark of the vitality of the talent available in the district. There has been a constant renewal of the people involved keeping the society alive and vibrant.
We welcome new members, actors, directors, assistants etc.. Anyone who would like to become involved, in any way, please contact us through our contact page. Anyone who has been involved in the past please feel free to browse our archive pages or indeed renew your involvement. We are endeavouring to update these archives continuously. We would welcome any information that you can add, to aid us in this task.
Where are we?
